The Gospel Message (What is it?)

Simply put, the Gospel is the Good News, that Jesus Christ has made a way for you to be reunited (made right) with God. He did this through His sacrifice on the cross, paying the ultimate price for your (and all of our) sins. This is more than a surface level discussion, and it really deserves more than a surface-level prayer by reading a paragraph on a website. I strongly encourage you to speak to a pastor or other believer who can help walk you through the Gospel Message and more than this, to help come alongside you in the process of discipleship.

That all being said, here are the basics:
1) We're all messed up - that's sin in our lives. Sin is being apart from God, it's tied to rejection and rebellion at its root.
2) The first part of the Gospel is a recognition of our need to be saved. This is often overlooked. Yes, Jesus loves you, and wants to save you, but you need to recognize your need to be saved. This is called repentance.
3) We cannot earn our way to God. Many religions try, mankind has always tried to pave their own way - that's the problem, we need a Savior. Jesus, who was without sin, is the way. He died for our sins - a sacrifice that covered over any sin you have ever committed, no sin is to great.
4) So now what? The Bible tells us that if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart(have faith in Him) that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved (Romans 10:9). Put your faith and hope in Jesus Christ and you will be saved, that's it, that is the Good News.

Look at the resources below to read through a little more about what this all looks like and what it means. You'll want to talk to someone, and you'll want to read the Bible for yourself. This should never just be a "I said a little prayer" kind of decision. This is a life-change.

How to Find Jesus

Not sure where to start reading in your Bible? You can download the "Bible Chapters by Book List" above to see how long each book is. You can start small if you feel overwhelmed. Titus and James are great, shorter books that really pack a punch! You should also really dive into one of the Gospels early on, maybe after one of those. I recommend reading the book of Mark. It's only 16 chapters long, but gives a great summary. There's also a helpful read-along, note-taking download for it here: Mark Download
